AAMazing RACE

This is it!
The day has ended! Saturday, 17th May. The day where all secondary 4 and 5 students participate in an epic and memorable race. The AAMazing Race!
Although our team did not win the race, we still had fun with the facilitators
and mentors. Well, it all starts from the beginning. The very beginning!
Our faces were as gloomy as an elephant. If not because of this race, both of us might still be in bed hugging our bolsters! We reluctantly came to school, as it was compulsory. Upon reaching school, we told to register our name at the counter. Both of us received a sticker which printed Yashmu and Rouby.

We were divided into 8 groups of 10 and consist of two unexpected facilitators! There were many kinds of weird names given to us before the assembly. Little did we know, those weird name are jewels in Arabic. They are, Yashmu, Rouby, Firauzu, Zamrud, Almaas, lulu,
zamarshad and safiri.

Unfortunately, we, Syahmi and Ziad, were not in the same team. Despite the setback, we still had fun during the race. The event started with a notorious game, The Hang Man!

this was the game that we played .

So, our first checkpoint was at the school canteen. We dashed as fast as we could to reach the checkpoint! There, we were told to answer all kinds of difficult questions given. Nevertheless, we managed to answer all the questions as fast as a master!!! After answering all those questions, we were given a clue and a map for our next mysterious destination.
this is the clue for and the map for our next destination.

Our next destination is fort-canning Park. We advanced there as a group like an army of
soldiers! Upon reaching there, Syahmi was shocked to see his team came first!
Without further ado, he took the questions from the Keeper and discussed with
his team. After planning with his team, they divided their task and continued
the game! We began roaming around the park like a ranger. Awed by the
magnificent history of the fort and almost forget about the race! We were told to find the year Horace Silverter was born and only given the year he died and some algebraic expression. The question is as follow: the year Horace Silverter died is the year Mary was born. 25years later , Mary gave birth to Sam. At the age of 15 , Sam was 3times younger than his father. Thus , his father was born in the year ‘f’ . find the year ‘f’ .
the bus was too crowded as we were all rushing!

solving the problem given.

After getting all the information needed, we returned to the checkpoint. To our dismay, we were told to stay back for 10 minutes as we got the wrong info. Tears of despair started rolling down Syahmi’s cheek as he saw the other teams advancing to the next destination. After the long 10 minutes, his team regain
its momentum, overcame its misery and continue its long awaited journey.

After having a hard time at fort canning, we then proceeded to our next destination and it was the Jamae Chulia Mosque. Who would have expected an Indian mosque at the heart of Chinatown? Nobody! When we reached the Mosque, we were given two pieces of paper written on it a Chinese and Tamil phrases respectively. We needed to use our initiative to solve the hidden meaning behind those words! We managed to get the meaning of the text right after the papers were given. Lucky for us, there was coincidentally a China man right outside the mosque. So we took this major opportunity to translate the hidden codes. The actually direct us to The Singapore Coins and Notes Museum. We were demonstrated the ways coins are created in a simpler form. At the coins and notes museum , the Keeper told us how money was made. We even get a sample of a plain coin and given a chance to see how the coins were were crafted.

Next , we solved the tamil secret codes. After walking for seems like hours, we spotted an Indian guy. We quickly asked him to translate it for us. We shocked when he showed us a blank look. He said, “ini apa depan mata awak?”. We actually
reached the place without helped at first. We returned to the Mosque and were
given an English text and we were supposed to translate it in Arabic.
After we finished translating the text , we rushed to our next destination and it was the Raffles place! Syahmi’s team was the second last to leave the mosque.

We were given a world map and was told to complete them. There were questions on every option and we were supposed to detect them in the map. It is one of the easiest games among the rest as Syahmi loves Geographical Stuffs. It took us only a few minutes to complete this course.

Next stop, The Cenotaph!
This was it! The highlight of the whole Aamazing race. We were given a task by the station master to solve a mysterious puzzle. While anticipating in the tas, a bunch of student came. Without further a do, we solve the puzzle stealthtily and handed it to the station master.

Our last destination was our school sweet school! Streams of sweats covered our body and our empty backpack seemed to weigh a ton! When we reached school, we were directed to the auditorium.

Ziad’s team won the consolation. Syahmi’s team won the third group. While the MC was lecturing the results, we could already hear grumbling sounds from everyone’s stomach. After the prize was given, all students rumbled out of the auditorium like a bunch of rhinos and elephants! Luckily, Syahmi and Ziad walk like bosses towards the canteen.
The day that was predicted to be a boring and mundane event turned out to be the best
amazing race ever! That’s all folks!
